I confess, home decorating has always been a little stressful for me. I worry it won’t turn out like I imagine or I second guess my decisions. This time I put that insecurity behind me and took a chance by trying something way outside of my comfort zone. I updated my daughter’s room with a metallic heart feature wall using metallic paint and a stencil. And, I am so happy I did!
For this wall, I used Modern Masters Opaque Metallic Paint. Their slogan is “The Alternative to Ordinary” and I could not agree more. This paint is beautiful. They were one of the sponsors at a conference I attended in April, and I got to play around with their Green Apple Metallic paint and a stencil. It was my first time stenciling or using metallic paint, and I’m kind of in love with the possibilities.
Modern Masters has 45 amazing metallic colors to choose from in this line, and I settled on this Pale Gold (ME 200). It’s such a pretty and warm gold. It contains real metal particles and pearlescent pigments, so it just sparkles in the light and adds so much character to an ordinary beige wall.
Modern Masters paint is really easy to work with and dries so quickly. Perfect since it is in a kid’s room, and they just can’t wait to rub their sticky hands all over my projects. It’s also low-odor too, which was great. See how it shines in the afternoon light? And every view is so different depending on the light and where you stand. So pretty!
So what does Madeline think? She LOVES her metallic heart feature wall and is so excited about how her new big girl room is coming along. Now we just need to settle on some artwork. Have I mentioned how opinionated she is? <sigh>
I’ll be sharing part two of this project next week and will tell you how I actually made these pretty little hearts!
