Santa’s Special Delivery Printable Gift Tags

As my kids are getting older, they have many more questions about Santa, his elves, and the most important question on their little minds … how does he even get in the house?!? So to give the holidays a more official feel, I thought some Santa’s Special Delivery Gift Tags from the North Pole would be a fun surprise!

Free Santa's Special Delivery Gift Tags from

I designed these gift tags for Design Dazzle’s Christmas Wonderful series. Not only are these gift tags great for kids, but they are also fun for adults too. Wouldn’t these be hilarious to give to your spouse, friends and co-workers who made the “Naughty” list?

These couldn’t be any easier to put together!

Free Santa's Special Delivery Gift Tags from

You just need some white cardstock, scissors, a marker, a single hole punch, Adobe Reader (for those fillable fields)*, and a color printer. A home printer works just fine for these!

Free Santa's Special Delivery Gift Tags from

For some families Santa may come to visit on different days, so you have total control over the date as well as the name fields. Just type in the date and the name of the recipient on each tag, and then print on your home printer. Use scissors to cut out each tag, punch a hole, and mark your check boxes whether they were “Naughty” or “Nice” and how Santa delivered the gift.

Then simply tie on to a package with the twine or ribbon of your choice for a fun gift from Santa! I just used red baker’s twine here.

Ready to get started?

First, download your FREE Santa’s Special Delivery Gift Tags and save to your desktop. Do not try to edit the fields in your browser. Then open the PDF file in Adobe Reader, which is a free program already on most computers. Type in the name and date in each tag. Print on cardstock, trim and spread some Christmas magic!*

Readers requested a version that allows you to edit the tag number too, so Santa’s Special Delivery Gift Tags Version 2 allows you to edit those fields. Same tags, just allows you to change the numbers in case Santa brings more than one gift for your kiddos.

Please note: This design is lovingly shared for free for personal use so parents can create some Christmas magic for their children. Unfortunately, many people think it is OK to print these and sell them to others, or to copy this design and sell it. It isn’t. I shouldn’t have to say this, but this design is registered and protected by copyright, which means it is illegal to sell them on Etsy/eBay/Facebook/at craft fairs/etc., or to copy this design in any way. Please don’t take advantage of this kindness intended to bring joy to children and respect our copyright so we can keep sharing! xoxo

* Troubleshooting help: If you are having trouble with your fillable fields (deleting or adding text), please make sure that you are not trying to edit the fields in your browser or are in Preview (for Mac users). Download the PDF to your computer first, and then you can type into the fields. If you have downloaded to your computer and the font is changing to something else or acting wonky, please update your computer to the most current (and free) version of Adobe Reader and follow the instructions to execute the new update/download. Old versions may cause problems.

Thank you so much, Gloria! It makes me so happy to know that people are able to incorporate these printables into their holidays. Have a very Merry Christmas!

  1. Candice H says

These are perfect for my little one who is not sure if Santa is real – I want him to believe a little longer so he doesn’t spoil it for his little brother – He is old enough now to recognize my handwriting so these will be perfect on our gifts from Santa!!! Thank you!!!!

    • Gretchen says

Hi, Candice! That makes me so happy to hear. My oldest is also not sure and has so many more questions now than in the past. I know it won’t be long, but I want her to believe for just a little longer as well. I hope you and your family have a magical Christmas!

  2. says

These are just too adorable!! My little man is only 18-months now, but these will definitely come in handy next year for sure. I love that they’re fully customizable. Oh, and I chuckled at your suggestion for using them with adults on the Naughty list….haha. 😉 I Pinned this and shared on Facebook to spread the cuteness around. Thanks for such an amazing Christmas freebie!

  3. Hailey R says

We are in LOVE with these! My twin little brothers (and dad) are getting twin kittens for christmas and its the perfect tag for the pet carrier!

Question though, what are the fonts that you used to create this? I want to print on the back of it “special care instructions” for the kittens and would love to do it with the same fonts so it REALLY looks official!

    • Gretchen says

How sweet! Santa brought us a kitten a few years ago too! I’m not able to share details about the source file, but the font I used was purchased for commercial use. There are loads of free fonts that would compliment nicely, such as vintage serif or newspaper style fonts. is a great and free resource for fonts for personal use. Hope that helps!

  4. Heather says

These tags are WONDERFUL! My daughter, Gretchen, has been questioning Santa this year, so this will be another layer of keeping the magic alive. Thank you so much for sharing!

  5. says

Thank you SO MUCH for sharing, these are so awesome!! I can’t wait to see the look on my boys’ faces when they read the tags!
    Thank you again.

  6. Julia A says

Thanks so much! I love this – I’m having a problem with the check boxes though, it won’t let me select which ones I want checked.

  7. Nikki says

I love these, but i just have one concern my 8 year old is onto the whole santa not real and he would see that his brothers tag numbers are exactly the same as his. Is it possible to change that number also

    • Gretchen says

Hi, Nikki! My oldest would notice details like that too, so that’s why I made each tag with a different number on it. Hope that helps!

      • says

I was thinking the same thing, and was wondering how I could change the parcel number too. I thought every parcel for every child should have it’s own individual number. I don’t suppose there is a way to edit this? I guess the other option is to allocate one number to each child, so all their delivery numbers match, which is probably what you intended.

        • Gretchen says

Hi, Katie! In our family we just do one big present from Santa for each child, so I suppose that is what I had in mind when designing and figured eight tags with different numbers would cover most families. I know every family has their own traditions regarding the number of presents Santa brings, so I will try to update the file next week. I’ll share on Facebook when it is ready. Thanks!

  8. Jade Louise says

Oh what wonderful tags. See these on prezzies will make it seem so much more Christmasy just wanting to know how I remove the “Enter Name Here” so I can print them out thank you very much for such cute tags xx

    • Gretchen says

Hi, Jade! You need to download them to your computer before filling them. Preview mode in your browser won’t let you edit fields, but once the file is downloaded to your computer and opened in Adobe, you’ll be able to fill/edit the fields. Hope that helps!

      • Gretchen says

LOL! No worries. There’s really no way to make a pretty fillable checkbox in a PDF, but a handwritten checkmark in red or black marker would look like Santa filled out the form. And might just pass the test. At least I hope so! 😉

  9. Katie says

Thank you SO much!!! The past few years I have created tags so I don’t have to use my own handwriting on Santa’s tags, but nothing nearly as cute as this! My kids receive their gift from Santa at a family Christmas party, and I’m excited to be able to put in the date of the party…makes it even more special that way. again, thank you!

  10. Carol Burton says

Please may i have some of the lovely gift tags for my two great niece’s, it would make christmas. Kind Regards Carol

  11. Lisa says

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh my word, you have NO idea how long I have looked for AND tried to make something like this myself. These are PERFECT!!!! Thank you for for being so generous and sharing them!!

  12. says

Thank you so much Gretchen for making and sharing these beautiful gift tags. They are the perfect addition to our girl’s christmas gifts. I wish I knew how to make such adorable printables.

  13. Amy says

These are wonderful, thank you so much for the trouble you went to in putting them together! I have downloaded them to my desktop and updated my Adobe software but when I enter the name the font changes, could you let me know what font you used so I can change it back? Many Thanks and a Happy Christmas to you and your family from here in the UK!

    • Gretchen says

Hi, Amy! Thank you so much! Sounds like the update didn’t go through properly. The easiest remedy would be to delete Adobe completely and then reinstall. Hope that helps, and Merry Christmas to you too!

    • Gretchen says

Hi, Melodie! Designers like myself lock files to prevent copyright infringement, so if you open it up in a design application like Photoshop, then a password will pop up. However, if you open it up in a reading program like Acrobat (which allows you to fill those fields), the password will not pop up. Hope that helps!

  14. marina says

Thank you so much for allowing me to use these tags. They worked a treat. Perfect to keep the magic of Chrismas alive. Keep up the awesome work.

  15. Tina says

These are spectacular!!! I saved the file to my computer. I went to open them in Photoshop and it asked me for a password. I couldn’t bypass it. What am I doing wrong?

  16. Linda Jex says

I tried to print the santa gift tags it doesn’t work(yes I have the adobe recommended reader) very frustrating. Really cute tags tho.

    • Gretchen says

Hi, Linda! I feel bad that you are frustrated, but the file does work. If you can tell me a bit more about what problems you are experiencing, I would be happy to help you troubleshoot what may be going wrong and help you fix it. I do have some troubleshooting tips in the post above that may help. If not, just let me know. Thanks!

  17. Tatum says

Thanks for sharing! Im so excited to use these! I tried to open them in photoshop elements to add the names and it says I need a password?

    • Gretchen says

Hi, Tatum! Yes, you aren’t able to open the file in a design program like Photoshop or Elements. The PDF is already fillable, so you don’t need a design program for that. You can type into them in Adobe Reader, which is the default program for a PDF and is already on most computers. I have a link to a free download/upgrade in the troubleshooting tips above if you need one. Hope that helps!

  18. Christine says

Someone I know shared this on Facebook so I filled in the PDF and printed them on cardstock. It couldn’t have been easier and they look adorable!! My daughter is going to love it!! I emailed the link to anyone I know whose kids are Santa age!! Merry Christmas

  19. says

Thank you for these wonderful gift tags! I love your idea and you have it as a free giveaway. Can I share it on my facebook page:www.
    Happy Holidays!

  20. Julie says

Thank you for these, you are awesome for sharing these with the world and my grandson will love them. All the way from Melbourne, Australia. The fact that most of us don’t have chimneys really makes these even more special.

    • Gretchen says

I am so happy they work so well for you. We have a chimney, but I know many homes do not and wanted to be sure there were lots of options. I hope your grandson is surprised. Have a very Merry Christmas!

    • Gretchen says

Thanks, Amber! Most of my twine comes from Pick your Plum deals or, but I’ve also seen it in Target’s dollar bins (just a few weeks ago in fact) and at Michael’s. Possibly other hobby stores as well. Hope that helps!

  21. jane mcgrory says

What a wonderful idea! I’ve just downloaded these. I’d already put gift tags on most of my wrapped presents but these are now coming off to be replaced by these and not just for the little ones in my family either! Such a simple idea but so very effective! Thank you and happy Christmas

  22. Mary-Ann says

Just wanted to say thank you for the free printable Santa gift tags. Brought much delight to my workmates. From Christchurch, New Zealand

  23. Lisa B. says

These were JUST what I was looking for. Now that my daughter is learning to write, she’s starting to recognize people’s hand writting, so I needed something to use for those gifts from Santa that won’t be a dead give away that mommy got them. Thanks!

    • Gretchen says

My girls are that way too! It won’t be much longer, but hopefully these will buy us a few more years of Christmas magic!

  24. SSP says

    Hi Gretchen,
Thank you very much for sharing these. Is there any way to make them larger. i made linen stockings for the kids this year and I’d like to transfer this image onto it?
Thank you very much for your time.

Hope yours is Merry & Bright!

    Kind regards

    • Gretchen says

Hi! Unfortunately I’m not able to redesign the gift tags to be larger at this time. Hopefully they can still work for your needs. Merry, Christmas!

  25. Michelle Soto says

Hi Gretchen, these tags are a wonderful idea!
However I don’t have a home printer and wanted to email my filled tags to my sister to print for me but it won’t even allow me to do this, it’s quite frustrating

    • Gretchen says

Hi, Michelle! I feel bad that you find them frustrating, but you are able to save your edits and email it as an attachment. The file would not prevent you from doing so. Merry Christmas!

  26. Jennifer Richard says

I love these!!!! They are so cute! i would like to know how to change the font for the child’s name. When I typed in my kids names, they were not in the same font that is on the original. Thanks for your help and thanks for making these! So easy!!!!

    • Gretchen says

Hi, Jennifer! Your version of Adobe is in need of an update. There are some troubleshooting tips in the post above that tell you how to get your free software update (just takes a few minutes) so you can fill those tags out ASAP. Thanks!

  27. Steve Gillis says

Life saver! These are beautiful and exactly what we were looking for….thanks so much for taking the time to do this.

    Merry Christmas,

    Steve & Renee

  28. says

They are really lovely. Just found and used them. Now I have very stylish christmas gifts.
(Normally wouldn’t need the secretness but we are celebrating a bit at my sisters new sister-in-law and her little girl still believes in Santa as well) Merry Christmas :)

  29. Rick Zanetti says

Hi Gretchen. I am an Australian married to an Italian girl and now living in Italy. We have two adorable little girls, the eldest of whom is 3 years old in February 2015 and her baby sister is now 5 months. The (almost) 3 year old is enjoying her first fully-Santa Christmas, as last year she was too young to really understand. My wife is learning “our” Christmas as we share Christmas traditions in this Italian-Australian household, and has excitedly embraced your gift tags, which we have also printed for family and friends. It was my brother in Australia who sent me the link to your page. Thank you for sharing with us and providing us with the opportunity to use these tags for our kids. They contribute enormously to our Christmas celebrations. Have a wonderful Christmas.

  30. Nicole says

These are beautiful. I had fun putting them on and can’t wait for my son to see them. What a generous thing you did sharing your creativity for free. Thank you! And merry Christmas!

  31. says

Just wanted too say a very big thank you for these wonderful tags! I’m so pleased to have found them in time to make on Xmas Eve. They were a great success everyone loved them, some people even put them on their Christmas tree as decorations. Lovely lovely thank you x

  32. Shelley says

These are so adorable! I found them too late for this year but they are downloaded and ready for next year! I have a 7 year old (also 16 & 18 year olds) who is on the cusp of not believing in Santa due to some children in his classroom which is mind blowing that in 2nd grade they are already wise to this…. but I conquered yet another year of enjoying him staring out the window into the dark stars night swearing he could hear the reindeers bells thanks in large part to this really cool Santa Video site I found so these tags will be perfect to add to my game for next year …. If I get away with it through 3rd grade I will be soon happy!

    Thanks again! These are wonderful!!!!

  33. says

I love this tags!! I will be using them this Christmas for the kid’s presents, and I think more than one adult will have the Naughty one haha, sure will have fun.
    Thanks for sharing!

Hey there! I am using a Macbook Pro and when I click on the link to the tags and view it in my browser it is not letting me download it. Anyway to fix this? The design is amazing and wonderfully whimsical though- thank you so much!!

    • Gretchen says

Hi! Sorry you are having trouble, but there isn’t anything wrong with the file. You need to save it to your computer and then open in Adobe. If you are in Preview, the fillable fields won’t work. Thanks!

  35. says
